In
an effort to develop our college's partnership with the community
and to give the students greater flexiblity in earning CDP hours, volunteer work with local
and regional non-profit agencies or organizations may be generated by the individual
student.
We encourage you to make a difference in your community and volunteer on your own.
If you have questions regarding the acceptability of your volunteer site
or if you need help finding a site in your hometown,
see a staff member in the Career Success Office
or Student
Life Office.
Citizenship
Development Program Rules
-
10 hours are required per term - you may carry over completed hours into the new semester. A total number of 60 CDP hours is required in order to graduate from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. You cannot
graduate without fulfilling these hours. No exceptions.
-
You can choose to volunteer
your time to complete half (no more than 30) of your hours in your own community at non-profit local
and regional agencies.
The remaining hours need to be completed in conjunction with our campus--TRS sponsored and supervised events. Note: To receive credit for any service hours completed with another agency/group other than TRS, you must turn in an official letter from the volunteer site that includes the actual number of hours worked, the agency or organization's letterhead, and the supervising person's signature. Click Here for an example document.
-
The actual number of hours worked must be recorded on official documentation provided by the college. Official CDP cards for you to record your volunteer hours are available at the Office of Student Activities and the Office of Career Services. The only person who may sign your card is the on-site supervising staff or the designated representative. The CDP cards should be turned in to Mr. Natale in the Office of Career Services at the end of each term or as hours are accumulated.
